PostHeaderIcon 13,384 new elementary and secondary teachers



Out of the 26,812 elementary (gradeschool) teachers who took the Licensure Exam for Teachers (LET,) 7,470 (28%) passed the test. For secondary (high school) teachers, out of 23,975 examinees, 5, 914 (25%) passed.

The new teachers are expected to boost the system of education of elementary and high school students all over the country. Reversing the decline of school instruction has been the focus of the Department of Education.

The Philippine Regulations Commission (PRC) disclosed that Lorevie Huyaban of UP Diliman (UPD) led the successful examinees among elementary with a grade of 90%. She is followed by Katherine Joy Catalab of the University of Pangasinan, Denna Colaba (UPD), Aileen Reyes Macapagal (UPD,) and Hershey Calma (UPD.)

Among the secondary teachers, the top slot was shared by Gerard Tantianco Mendoza (UPD) and Benedick Enriquez Marayugan of the Central Luzon State University. Rochelle Racio (UPD) ranked second.
