The queen of daytime talk show Oprah Winfrey announced her decision to quit her show on September 2011. The popular entertainment host who graced TV show audiences and endeared her fans since 1986 planned to confirm the news in her Friday appearance in one of the most watched programs in television.

Wealthy, famous, and a prominently influential Afro-American in the entertainment trade, Oprah has a viewership which ranges from 3 to 7 million in more than a hundred countries. For a long time, she reigned as the best-rated daytime show in town.

According to observers, she earns a fabulous pot of $270 million yearly. Her future plans is unclear after she leaves the 25th season of her very successful syndicated show. It appears what lies ahead is unsettled since the astute businesswoman has involved herself in politics by supporting current Pres. Barack Obama--- a move that may eclipse her fame and fortune. PostHeaderIcon Actor Johnny Delgado dies of lymphoma

Philippine veteran TV and movie actor Johnny Delgado succumb to malignant lymphoma, a form of lymph node cancer on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at the age of 61. Two days before his death, he was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital suffering from complications of the disease and chemotherapy.

The entertainment celebrity was popular in his many film and TV appearances which spanned for four decades. In the 1980’s he was a regular actor in “Goin’ Bananas.” He played a role in “Tanging Yaman,” a drama which gained him a FAMAS Award as the 2000 best actor. Johnny was the husband of Laurice Guillen and father of Ben Feleo---both film-makers by profession.

A devout Catholic Christian, Johnny’s remains was brought to New Manila, Quezon City at our Lady of Mount Carmel Shrine for viewing prior to the burial at the Loyola Memorial Park on November 24, 2009. (Photo Credit: Weiss08) =0=

The wedding bash with a price tag of three (3) million pesos of Sen. Mar Roxas and TV anchor Korina Sanchez in Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City was scrapped in favor a scaled-down celebration.

Opting for a fewer guests and a simpler and less extravagant celebration, the huge money to be spent for an estimated 10,000 well-wishers was instead set aside to assist the victims of the floods brought by Typhoon Ondoy and Peping. The admirable decision of the couple will surely help numerous Filipinos cope with the aftermath of the storm.

The celebrity nuptial will require Filipino attire for the limited media persons who will be granted access at the Sto. Domingo Church in Quezon City where the wedding will be held.

About 2,000 invited people, mostly members of the who’s who of local politics and the glittery segment of society will pack the church grounds during the wedding where the famous Madrigal Singers and the Philippine Harmonic Orchestra will perform. PostHeaderIcon "Pamanhikan" ushers in the wedding bells of Sen. Mar Roxas and Korina Sanchez

In the age-old tradition of a Filipino marriage, Senator Manual Roxas and his would-be bride TV news anchor Korina Sanchez feted their respective families in a “pamanhikan,” a especial party prepared to honor the bride’s family capped with the groom’s public proposal of marriage.

After the acceptance of the proposal, the groom brought the elders of his family to meet the bride’s relatives in a happy feast of poems, songs, food, and dancing. It was supposed to be an occasion to discuss the arrangments of the coming wedding itself---the budget, number of guests, sponsors, place of ceremony and reception among other concerns.

For Mar and Korina, this pre-union Filipino custom was held on the night of June 14, 2009 in the beautiful home of the bride in Paranaque, Metro Manila. The gathering brought together the celebrities of the Araneta-Roxas clan and the brothers, nieces, uncles, aunts and relatives of the Sanchezes’ side. Visibly radiant in her sleeveless grey-brown dress, 44 year-old Korina whose parents died earlier had her friends and classmates witnessed the memorable affair. She definitely put more sheen on the feathers of Mar who needs them for the 2010 presidential election.

The specific date of the wedding planned within this year is yet to be determined in accordance with feng shui, a folksy Chinese belief system consulted to bring good luck and happiness to the occasion. (Photo Credit: http:// www.stir.ph.com) =0=

Nini Ragragio who celebrates her birthday on April 1, 2009, has been a friend and neighbor in Bagumbayan Street, Naga City. (Happy Birthday, LRB!) For more than 35 years, I lost track of her until I learned (to my pleasant surprise) of her smart baby who graduated in UP, many years after I left. Her name is Angela (Jaja) Bolivar, a pretty and talented young Filipina with an earthy brown expressive face and bubbly laughter. She is now a lifestyle magazine TV host for the Adobo Nation. She extends her warm regards to her fans and friends!

With an unbridled passion for life, an artistic bent, and a lot of love to share, Jaja agreed to bring us one of her exciting musings---a glimpse of her experiences before she came to the scintillating world of Hollywood. Musings of a lady on her way to Hollywood

today, i officially signed in with The Talent House SF!

after being represented by talentola in Southern California, i had longed to be represented again by an agency, this time, here in san francisco. and today, my wish came true. i am now with the talent house sf.

YES!

it's really not that easy to get an agency to represent you. first of all, there are lots of talents out there sending out their submissions just so these agencies could give them one bit of a chance to meet with them. secondly, with the numerous faces and talents they come across with, how on earth will you "stand out" such that these agencies would like to get you to be one of their talents?!



entertainment is a hella crazy world. and like what my professors used to say in college, even if you are on tv, "you are only as good as your last show!". true enough, i'd had a lot of those moments where i am already supposedly a regular of this series and then the next thing i know, they axed me out on the script. i'm not doing the show anymore. but see, it happens all the time to all actors and performers. nobody is exempt from rejections and failures in this industry.

going back to the agent meeting today, the agent asked me what i had been up to. i told her about my tv show and other mainstream stuff i'd been doing in and out of the city. she then asks me to deliver the monologue that i prepared. i chose a comedic monologue from romy and michelle's high school reunion and i would say, i kinda messed up 'coz i was nervous. hahahaa! i always get high strung and over-the-top delivering the first few lines (which works to my disadvantage 'coz casters don't care. once you're on, you're on and there's no turning back on the material)...

so anyways, she suggests a cold read of this monologue from the movie, as good as it gets. she explains the scenario and asks me to leave the room and study it for a few minutes. after about ten minutes, she gets back to me. i deliver the lines in front of her. and right when i finish the last line of the piece, she goes,

"i would love to represent you." you definitely have a lot going for you.

that's it. done deal. love ettt!

so that pretty much made my day today. after that, on my way home at about 3:30 pm, i passed by the marina and marvelled at the private yachts. the weather was charming. i sat in one of those benches and ate my chinese food that had been sitting in the car for two hours.



oh! and i met this man while i was taking pictures of the scenery on my iphone. he said he was from israel. he told me i was beautiful and i thanked him for the compliment. we ended up chatting about his life story. he said he is based in chicago and travels back and forth to cali, france, singapore and all these other countries. he seemed like a busy, well off man. what's interesting is that he shared his life story to me as if we were this instantaneous friends, hehe. i get that a lot, though. people open up to me easily, maybe because each person simply likes to be heard. it's great to listen because i get to learn from other people's stories. people, in general, amaze me. regarding his life, i would say his story is quite out of the ordinary. but then again, whose life isn't? anyways, after living in the the philippines and being in this industry, nothing shocks me anymore. oh, and of course i asked him what he thought about the israel-gaza war. he said that he used to fight for the israel army and that while he is a peace-loving man, he is undoubtedly in favor of it.

so that's how my day went.
