PostHeaderIcon Prayer Quotes--- from the longing of the soul while the virgins slumber to a delusion & make believe

pooled by Totie Mesia and Carmela Magpantay

"My words fly up, my thoughts remain below.
Words without thoughts never to heaven go." ----William Shakespeare

"Prayer is not asking. It is a longing of the soul. It is daily admission of one's weakness... It is better in prayer to have a heart without words than words without a heart."---- Mahatma Ghandi

"There are thoughts which are prayers. There are moments when, whatever the posture of the body, the soul is on its knees."---- Victor Hugo

"Do not pray for easy lives. Pray to be stronger men. Do not pray for tasks equal to your powers. Pray for powers equal to your tasks. Then the doing of your work shall be no miracle, but you shall be the miracle." ----Phillips Brooks

"0h brother, pray, in spite of Satan; pray, spend hours in prayer; rather neglect friends than not pray; rather fast, and lose breakfast, dinner, tea, and supper - and sleep too - than not pray. And we must not talk about prayer, we must pray in right earnest. The Lord is near. He comes softly while the virgins slumber." ---Andrew A. Bonar

"Little praying is a kind of make believe, a salve for the conscience, a farce and a delusion." --- E. M. Bounds

PostHeaderIcon Ika sanang Namomotan---"No Mas Amor” sa Bikol

No Mas Amor Que El Tuyo

No mas amor que el tuyo
O Corazon divino
El Pueblo Filipino
Te da su Corazon
En templos y en hogares
Te invoque nuestra lengua
Tu reinaras sin mengua
De Aparri hasta Jolo

Coro:
Ha tiempo que esperamos
Tu imperio en el Oriente
La Fe de Filipinas
Es como el sol ardiente,
Como la roca firme
Inmensa como el mar
La iniquidad no puewde
Ser de estas Islas duenas
Que izada en nuestros montes
Tu celestial ensena
Las puertas del infierno
No prevaleceran.

Haloy kaming naghanap kan kantang Bikol na iyan. Maski ang mga pading hinapotan mi, dae aram. Sa kahurian, si Joceline man sana an naka-kua kan hinahanap niya. Sa kabo’otan ni Fr. O. Largoza kan Nabua, Camarines Sur, nataw’an siya nin kopya kan kantang kan sadit pa tanda niya. Dae naghaloy, kan nagbisita si Joceline sa Nueva York kan sarong bulan, kinanta mi ang Bikol na No Mas Amor. Magayonon! (Photo Credit: Inspirational)

Uya tabi an No Mas Amor in Bikol---na satong sa bo’ot na kinakanta para ipagpugay ang kalinigan kan puso ni Jesus.

Ika Sanang Namomotan

Ika sanang Namomotan
O Diosnon na puso
An banwang Pilipino
Dusay sa puso mo
Sa simbahan sa harong man
Dila mi ika ina-arang
Namaghade kang tunay
Sa Aparri sagcod Jolo.

Coro:
Haloy mi nang pinagmawot
Paghade mo sa Siragnan
An Pagtubod niamo
Siring sa mainit na aldaw
Gapo baga kapusog
Dagat baga kahiwas
Di mangyari an karatan
Maghade sa kaporoan
Kun tindog sa Kabukiran
Langitnon mong tanda'an
An bilog na infierno
Di mangyari nanggad. =0=

PostHeaderIcon Prayers pour in for ailing Pres. Cory Aquino

From simple Filipino folks to no less that Pope Benedict XVI, many are praying for the healing and comfort of Pres. Cory Aquino who is stricken ill by terminal colonic cancer. The former President, who is a pillar of fortitude, honesty, and grace, has been diagnosed with the deadly malignant abdominal disease last year.

Apostolic Papal Nuncio to the Philippines Archbishop Edward Joseph Adams said Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, the Pope’s secretary of state, sent a message as follows:

“The Holy Father has asked that you be informed that he is remembering you in his prayers. At the same time, he invokes upon you the blessing of Almighty God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, in pledge of healing and comfort.” ----Philstar (07/24/09, Macairan, E.)

Having refused further treatment, Aquino, the 76-year old devout Catholic who led the country during the dark days when Pres. Ferdinand Marcos was kicked out from office, is confined at the Makati Medical Center. She was reported to have lost appetite and weight.

Her daughter Kris Aquino said, she had been suffering pain as a result of the cancer. On her hospital bed at one point, she summoned her 5 children to be with her. Yellow ribbons hang outside the hospital and elsewhere in Manila to pay homage to Ninoy Aquino's widow--- reminiscent of her days when she led the country from the tyranny of Marcos rule. The ailing president was erroneously reported as dead, obviously by irresponsible person(s) not authorize to speak for the Aquino family. (Photo Credit: ManilaRyce/ Time) =0=

Not long after former President Corazon “Cory” Aquino refused further medical treatment for advanced colonic malignancy, she is fast deteriorating. Her daughter actress Kris Aquino announced that she would temporarily quit her job to give time to her ailing mother who is confined in Makati Medical Center.

Within a year after it was publicly disclosed that the ex-president had cancer, she went through laparoscopic colectomy and chemotherapy for stage 4 cancer which caused her to lose weight and appetite. From the medical standpoint, her prospect of recovery had been poor.

The whole country who recognizes Cory as an upright, devout, and honest woman pray for her comfort and healing. Many Filipinos are saddened that in the past few weeks, she has suffered weakness and pain related to to her illness. (Photo Credit: Joe Galvez) =0=

A little more than a year since Corazon Aquino, 76, was diagnosed to have colonic cancer, her secretary Margie Juico disclosed that the former president is scheduled to have an operation to remove tumor in her colon. The chemotherapy that she took earlier was apparently not enough to rid her of malignancy.

To help Cory recover, Balanga Bishop Socrates Villegas called for a rosary prayers aimed to seek total healing for the widow of slain Filipino leader Ninoy Aquino.

Mrs Aquino, a vocal critic of the present administration has called on Pres. Gloria M. Arroyo to resign over corruption charges. As she battles her illness, she recently asked for support to whistle-blower Rodolfo Noel Lozada, Jr., who was arrested on April 29, 2009, Wednesday on perjury charges filed by former Presidential Management Staff chief Michael Defensor. Losada testified about the corruption in the $329 million national broadband network (NBN) deal. (Photo Credit: Joe Galvez) =0=

PostHeaderIcon Pacquiao wins over De la Hoya on a 9th round TKO

When I attended the Simbang Gabi sa Katedral at St. Patrick's Cathedral in Manhattan, New York a few hours before Manny (Pacman) Pacquiao faced “golden boy” Oscar de la Hoya on the welter-weight boxing ring, Fr. Jose Marabe asked those present if they prayed for the Filipino fighter to win.

The hushed laughter in the packed gothic cathedral on December 6, 2008 seemed to confirm that many sought God's help for the most famous Filipino pugilist. The trust on Manny's winning was as high as the people's trust in God. Manny's fans knew the power of faith.

I too offered prayers for Manny to win. I wanted to have that good news for the country, something that most kababayans could relate to. After all, Manny is among the few Filipinos who captivates and inspires the nation. When he fights, Manila literally stops. His homegrown fans in the Philippines go wild watching the TV beamed from Las Vegas.

When I arrived home from church, the game was already underway. It was Manny who was dominating the fight. De la Hoya seemed worn-out to match Manny's solid jabs. The famous 10-time world champ and 1992 Olympic veteran wobbled as he took Pacman's strikes.

By the 8th round, the Mexican-American boxer got his puffed eye which proved too cumbersome for him to go on. The befuddled De la Hoya soon lost the match on a technical knockout (TKO) after failing to answer the 9th round bell.

It was a glorious moment for Pacquiao, a beaming instant for Filipinos. Manny said he felt early on that he would win. Riding high on adrenaline, he wanted to fight again when the pay is right, perhaps after some rest. He set a personal record by wrecking the stellar reputation of the famous De la Hoya.

Manny demonstrated to be the better boxer. Prayers did work for him. On his return to the Philippines its the same prayers (add praises and admiration) that await him.w He once more raised pride for his people. He is an excellent boxer--- better than the aspiring politician from Gen. San he wanted to be. (Photo Credits: AP/ Mark Terrill; AP/ Jamison, E; AP/ JaeChong; AP/ Jamison, E) =0=
