PostHeaderIcon Cosmetic surgeon loses license resulting from sex-tape scandal

Dr. Hayden Kho, the infamous cosmetic surgeon of the Belo Medical Group involved in the blistering sex scandal with movie starlet Katrina Halili, Dr. Vicki Belo, and other women was stripped of his license to practice medicine on November 20, 2009 by the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC).

The basis for the license revocation stemmed from the young doctor's poor judgment of videotaping his sexual relation with Halili and showing the intimate footage in You Tube for the public to see. The PRC ruled that Kho’s action was immoral and dishonorable.

The medical license revocation prompted Kho’s legal counsel to file for a motion of reconsideration before the decision to prevent him from practicing his profession becomes final. Representing her client, lawyer Lorna Kapunan said the surgeon’s punishment was “too harsh and unfair.”

Obviously, the PRC's decision on Kho's case reflects the standard of morality of the professional regulating body. The humiliation which comes from this sex scandal is a shameful example from which doctors and other professionals can learn from. (Photo Credit: Philstar) =0=

Forty year-old Josefina Norcio is the next patient to come forward to complain against celebrity cosmetic doctor Vick Belo. According to Norcio, the "doctor of the stars" failed to explain to her the possible complication(s) of butt augmentation surgery when she opted to have one in 2003 and 2005. She said she suffered a life-threatening infection after the procedure was done by Dr. Francis Decangchon, Jr. who was then a staff surgeon in Belo’s clinic.

Vick figured in a scandal earlier when her boyfriend Dr. Hayden Kho came up with sex tapes of starlet Katrina Halili and other women to the amazement and shock of the public and embarrassment of the medical profession.

Leah Salterio, spokeswoman of Dr. Belo’s office said they are withholding comment on Norcio’s complaint. She said the clinic follows a standard protocol in dealing with patienst. (Photo Credit: www.tvpinoy.info) =0=

A sex video scandal reached the Philippine senate faster than the alleged military corruption in the US-RP Balikatan fund as alleged by Lt. Nancy Gadian. In a privilege speech, Sen. Ramon Revilla, Jr. castigated a certain Dr. Hayden Kho for taking a sex video of himself and starlet Katrina Halili, his girlfriend--- then showing the raunchy clips in the internet. The accused cosmetic surgeon had similar perversions done to other women which angered Sen. Revilla and feminist groups like Gabriela.

“I have also been informed that there are at least two other sex videos involving the same man with other women. These videos show explicit sexual acts and were obviously taken without the consent of the women,” Sen. Ramon Revilla Jr. said. Philstar (o5/20/09, Calica, A)

One wonders why such a doctor who is held in high regard can be so immature, short-sighted and reckless. Such obscene actions of Dr. Kho are deplored by the public. His alleged misconduct tarnishes the trust that people readily give to the healing profession.

There are those who demand that Kho’s medical license be revoked by the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC). In addition, Revilla wants the passage of a law against voyeurism and the display of sex videos. He is joined by party list house representative Irwin Tieng who calls for the approval of a bill which criminalizes violations of a person’s privacy.(Photo Credit: Inquirer; Philstar) =0=

PostHeaderIcon Pres. Cory Aquino to undergo cancer surgery

A little more than a year since Corazon Aquino, 76, was diagnosed to have colonic cancer, her secretary Margie Juico disclosed that the former president is scheduled to have an operation to remove tumor in her colon. The chemotherapy that she took earlier was apparently not enough to rid her of malignancy.

To help Cory recover, Balanga Bishop Socrates Villegas called for a rosary prayers aimed to seek total healing for the widow of slain Filipino leader Ninoy Aquino.

Mrs Aquino, a vocal critic of the present administration has called on Pres. Gloria M. Arroyo to resign over corruption charges. As she battles her illness, she recently asked for support to whistle-blower Rodolfo Noel Lozada, Jr., who was arrested on April 29, 2009, Wednesday on perjury charges filed by former Presidential Management Staff chief Michael Defensor. PostHeaderIcon Lucid interval in acute brain injuries: a crucial lesson on Natasha Richardson’s death

The death of Broadway star and movie actress Natasha Richardson illustrates the necessity for quick trauma management in cases of acute brain injuries. In hindsight, Richardson didn’t go to the hospital immediately after she banged her head during a ski accident in Mont Tremblant, a luxury resort in Quebec, Canada.

She had a lucid interval and a feeling of wellness not unusual in some victims of head injury. At that crucial time, blood seeped from a torn blood vessel between the brain and skull creating an epidural hematoma, an enlarging blood clot that was big enough to cause her demise. The New York medical examiner confirmed the epidural bleeding from blunt trauma that caused her death.

Richardson, the daughter of famed actress Vanessa Redgrave was conscious and well soon after the ski accident. She refused early on to be brought to the nearest hospital, hence a delay of about 4 hours before life-saving treatment was instituted. Only when she experienced headache, a sign of rising pressure within the enclosed cranium that she decided to go for the doctors’ aid.

There are questions whether an early medical intervention could have saved her life. Perhaps yes. There is a short golden period in those suffering from acute epidural bleed when doctors can still save a life. From Canada, she was flown to Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City where she passed on a day later.

The coffin bearing the remains of the talented celebrity was taken out of the Greenwich Funeral Home in Manhattan. Lights of Broadway were dimmed to pay tribute to Miss Richardson, a Tony award winner and a member of a family of distinguished movie and theatre thespians. Texas resident Sheyla Hershey, a 28 wife and mother wasn’t satisfied with an eye-popping 34FFF surgically enhanced breasts. On medical grounds, US plastic surgeons refused her request to further size augmentation, so she went all the way to Brazil to have the operation done.

In her pursuit for a place in the Guinness Book of World records, it was reported she allowed a gallon of filling material and multiple surgeries to bring the twin firm globes of her chest to rise to its astounding size of 38KKK.
