Germany commemorates the 20th year of the fall of Berlin Wall

For about 3 decades the Berlin Wall separated the city into the East and West. Crossing the separation was paid for by the lives of many Berliners who wanted to be free during the cold war. On November 9, 2009 the city will celebrate the dismantling of the wall---- 20 years after it was torn down by people's insistence.

About 100,000 are expected to come and ponder on a footnote of hisotry. German Chancellor Angela Merkel will be joined by present and former international leaders and dignitaries in the Monday ceremonies that include a display of huge 2.1 meter-high dominoes----symbolizing the successive changes that led to the tearing of the concrete barrier that divided people. 50 people injured in Negros Occidental disco floor collapse

At the height of a Christmas party in a resort in Negros Occidental, 50 people (1/4 of the those who were present) were injured and brought to the hospital after a floor of a disco fell at about 4 pm of Sunday, December 28, 2008. ---PDI (12/28/08, Kwok, A)

The incident occurred in Laura Beach Resort and Restaurant in Cadiz City during the GTY Trading Company get-together attended by about 200 employees. The names of those who sustained injuries are not immediately known. The cause of the collapse is being investigated by authorities.
